They're at it again. Idiots. In New York City, there is legislature in the works to ban all photography and filming in public places without a permit (and $1 million in liability insurance) being obtained.
While claiming that the average tourist or amateur photographer would not be affected, they have made the language vague enough that even if you are holding a camera, an officer could likely seize your equipment if they were so inclined. One can only imagine how this will affect artists, journalists, and tourism.
I encourage you to read over the NY Times article and if you find this as horrifying, not to mention unconstitutional, I encourage you to go sign this petition and write to your representatives, to the City Council, and Mayor Bloomberg.
