Today was an interesting ride home. I had sort of noticed that a lot of colleagues had already gone home - more so than usual. And traffic seemed to be a little lighter too. But not unreasonable enough to spark my suspicion. Yet.
Until I reached the Mass Ave bridge.
And noticed the 2 helicopters hovering.
Near Fenway Park.
Riiiight.

Potential RedSox world series title. That might explain why at least every other person on the street was wearing RedSox outfits. When I reached Brookline Ave, there was a big sign that said it would be closed from 7pm till 1am. Smart move! There were police everywhere. Cars with blinkenlights about every 100 yards; 5 motorcycles parked next to each other; an "equipe" of some 10 policemen (on bike). And enough blue on the street to outnumber the people spilling out of the bars - for now at least. If that was not enough yet, when I turned onto the Muddy river bike path, there was a schoolbus parked next to it. To stuff the arrestees into, I suppose :) And the Boston Parks division area that's at the beginning of the path turned out to be the staging area for the police. Tons of guys in uniform trotting around, and all sorts of vehicles parked there. Heh.
