A few times each winter I have to thaw a car door lock with my thumb (good thing I can, as I don't carry a lighter).

I don't carry a lighter either... good thing it was only steps away from our kitchen, which does have one of those long-shnozzeld ones.

I think this is why alot of the stores now carry lock de-icer...it does work. I never used it but I watched a few people us it on thier car locks when the freeze. I know you can find it at family dollar which is good but i have also seen it at wallgreens.
