Nothing blown over or flooded. Sure, lots of wind and rain and other fun stuffs, but all within reason. I really liked how matter-of-fact they were last night. None of the typical Bostonian oh-my-god-we're-going-to-die nonsense, or people rushing to get duct tape and plastic. Just, storm warning. Some dams and bridges closing. Very refreshing.
Today was a full and good day. Met up with an old friend and sorority sister, and went to a place called Ballorig. Perfect! No problem trying to entertain Karin, she had a blast! Climbing and running and sliding and jumping. For a few hours :). Iris and I got to catch up (mostly) in peace. As much as you can have peace with tens and tens of kids running around and screaming.
In the afternoon, we went for a quick peek at my brother's (and his girlfriend) soon-to-be new house. They had to sign the equivalent of a purchase and sales, and had asked if they could do it in their new house, so we could have a look.
It is absolutely stunning. A huge, 3-floor house, big beautiful rooms with nice views; garden in back, tram stop not even 100 meters away. Beach maybe 500 meters. High ceilings with the old(?) relief around them, and in the middle around the light fixtures; pocket doors on the 2nd floor, making for an amazing room running front to back. Will be interestin to see what it'll look like once they move in.
Followed by "indonesische rijsttafel" ["Indonesian rice table" - rice-based dinner with lots of different smallish batches of yummy meat and veggie dishes] at their old place. Karin had been pretty good all day, but by now she was obviously spiraling down, misbehaving more and more, landing playmobile airplanes on our heads and trying to bounce on their bed in the loft (with no guardrails!!). Time to go home. Good timing, since we were going home :) Surprisingly, there were very few complaints when I put her to bed... just a request from her that we stay here "thiiiiiis long. A hundred days. And more."
