Doing my last backup of my LJ entries, then deleting everything. In order to log in I had to agree to a user agreement that states both that "this translation of the User Agreement is not a legally binding document. The original User Agreement, which is valid, is located at the following address: http://www.livejournal.com/legal/tos-ru.bml." and that they reserve the right to change the user agreement unilaterally without notice from now on.

Not acceptable.

I've moved to dreamwidth. Same userid. See you on the flip side.

Yup. I have a script nuking my LJ now, and once that finishes it will get a pinned, comment-closed post pointing people to DW.

Next step, clearing out all the LJ account access lists on DW, since I don't want to be trusting the OpenID authentication from LJ either.

Do you have a script you'd like to share? I wrote/repurposed https://github.com/timmc/lj-expunge but it's pretty slapdash.

So, funny story.

I got home, opened the laptop, and started going through my DW reading list. I'd looked at my email briefly on my phone earlier today, and a post reminded me that one of the comments had been someone asking about the erase script.

Since that post had a link in it to another erase script, I figured I'd take a look at that first before sending mine, since it might be better.

You've probably guessed the punchline by now, of course. :-)

Mine is at least as slapdash as yours, and doesn't do the overwrite that yours does. Sending you the link anyway for the amusement value....
